 What We Offer....

LightSys offers consulting, implementation and research&development services to the missions community. While our technological focus centers on open-standards, open-source, and web-based technologies, we do work with other technologies as well.

LightSys' work centers around projects. That is, we generally do not at this point provide web hosting services, email hosting services, ongoing on-site support, and the like. Our goal is to train you to manage the systems we implement rather than create dependence upon us for day-to-day operations. In that manner we can potentially multiply our effectiveness rather than simply adding to it.

 Who We Serve....

LightSys is restricted by its organizing corporate charter to only serve Christian missions organizations, and we do request that any organization we serve agree to our statement of faith and attest that they are, in good faith, a missions organization.

 What the Costs Are....

LightSys works under a unique business model: we do not charge for our services per se, but rather we are a publicly supported 501(c)(3) organization ourselves. As such we are in an even better position to understand your needs and work with you more closely. The only "charges" associated with our services are the following: first, we request you as a mission agency provide the LightSys consultant with room and board while he/she is onsite; second, we may charge a minimal fee to cover costs (room, board, materials) for Missions Computing Education Program workshops that we do. We do not charge hourly fees or tuition.

Why have we chosen this approach to ministry? First of all, we hope that by operating in the manner of a missions agency ourselves, we can better understand and support other missions agencies. Second, we desire especially to be well- positioned to serve organizations that are too small to be able to afford normal consulting services (even at reduced rates), especially since the computing decisions made in the first few years of operation will have a substantial impact on the organization's IT capabilities and infrastructure for years down the road. Third, by focusing on missions organizations, we hope to build our base of expertise such that we are better positioned to serve missions than most secular consulting firms would be. Finally, we desire to be able to partner with missions agencies, both spiritually and business-wise, such that we are co-workers with missions in the goal of world evangelization.
