Basic Linux Workshop
The Basic Linux Course is aimed at providing a broad introductory understanding
regarding several of the major components commonly used within the Linux operating
system. Some more detailed material is also covered. This course is accompanied by a
workbook that is approximately 140 pages long, in addition to demonstations, hands-on
lab exercises, and lectures.
Internetworking and Security Workshop
In today's world, and especially for the ministries that we serve, information
security is a high-stakes issue. Not only so, but we only expect things to get
more and more critical as time passes.
The Internetworking and Security course is designed to first acquaint you with the fundamentals
of TCP/IP and internetworking, in preparation for also learning how to implement security
infrastructures and protection measures within such an environment.
The workshop consists of
three parts: Internetworking (a study on TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, tunneling, and policy
routing), Firewalling (a study on network perimeter security, including firewall architectures,
security policies in general, packet filtering, proxying, intrusion detection, and proactive
measures), and Secure Networking (a study on how to communicate with others securely). It
includes a 210-page workbook in addition to demonstrations, hands-on lab exercises, and
lectures.
For more information about these Missions Computing Education Program courses, or to schedule
a course, please feel free to contact us. There is no tuition
charge. Both of the above courses require an absolute minimum of 24 hours of class/lab
time, preferrably spread out over a week.
Centrallix
The Centrallix project is a web-based application server featuring advanced application-like
user interface generation coupled with a sophisticated data abstraction and management system.
It is an open-source project hosted on SourceForge and
is available under the GPL free software license. While LightSys is heading up Centrallix
development, we are by far not the only ones contributing to it and maintaining it.
Kardia
The Kardia project envisions an open-source missions management software package providing
accounting, personnel, donor management, etc., features to help missions home offices in their
day-to-day activities. It is also hosted on SourceForge and is being headed up by
Taylor University student Luke Ehresman.
More to come as we post some of our other tools here...
